About Atlas Orthogonal

The Atlas Orthogonal procedure is a gentle and precise method of adjusting the atlas, the first bone at the top of your spine. Unlike traditional chiropractic methods, there is no twisting, cracking, or popping of the neck, making it an ideal approach for individuals of all ages and health conditions. Whether you’re a child, an older adult, someone recovering from head or neck trauma, or simply prefer a gentle touch, this technique is safe, effective, and highly tailored to your needs.

Chiropractic care focuses on the health of the nervous system, which serves as the body’s control center, directing every function from movement to organ regulation. For your body to function at its best, it’s essential for the brain and spinal cord to communicate without interference. The Atlas Orthogonal technique specifically targets misalignments at the top of your spine to restore optimal neurological function throughout your body.

Your Path to Wellness Starts Here

In my office, I prioritize your comfort and health. My process is designed to guide you through each step, ensuring you feel informed and at ease. From your initial consultation to ongoing care, we’re here to support you every step of the way.

Step 1:
Precision Imaging

The first step is taking four x-rays of your upper cervical spine. These detailed, 3D images allow me to assess the alignment of your atlas and provide precise measurements of the misalignment. Every individual’s anatomy is unique, and these images ensure that your adjustment is customized for the most effective and gentle correction.

Step 2:
Gentle Adjustment

During the adjustment, you’ll lie comfortably on your side. I carefully position your head and neck to achieve the most accurate alignment. Using a specialized instrument, a controlled, gentle impulse is delivered through a stylus placed behind your ear. Despite its advanced design, the adjustment is entirely non-invasive and painless. Many patients are surprised by how gentle the process feels, with some reporting that they don’t feel the adjustment at all.

Step 3:
Post-Adjustment Care

After your adjustment, your body begins to realign and heal. You may notice sensations like warmth, tingling, or muscle twitches as your nervous system responds to the correction. These responses are normal and indicate that the adjustment is stimulating improved brain-to-body communication.

What to Expect After Your Adjustment

Many patients experience immediate benefits after their first Atlas Orthogonal adjustment.

These include:

  • A sense of relaxation and calmness.
  • Improved sleep quality.
  • Reduced pain or tension, especially in the neck, head, and shoulders.
  • Enhanced energy and mental clarity.

It’s also common to experience mild soreness or stiffness in the days following your adjustment. This is a normal part of the healing process as your body adapts to its improved alignment.

To support your recovery, I recommend:

  • Drinking plenty of water to stay hydrated.
  • Avoiding strenuous activity for the first 24 hours.
  • Incorporating gentle movements like walking to promote circulation and healing.

I had a great experience with Dr. Nor! I was having pain at the base of my head that turned into a headache and I had anxiety about getting a neck adjustment, but I heard Dr. Nor uses a really gentle technique so I tried it. The pain and tightness started to go away soon after the adjustments and my headaches are less frequent too. Would recommend if you’re normally scared of getting neck adjustments!
